SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team saw its season come to a close on Sunday as the 'Roos fell 70-60 at top-seeded Trinity University in the semifinal round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The 'Roos finish the year with a record of 6-5.

Trinity used a 28-to-13 advantage in bench points and also outscored the 'Roos 15-to-6 on second chance points in the game, while Austin College knocked down just 5-of-13 free throws as a team in the loss. The 'Roos were hot from three early, hitting 5-of-10 as a team in the opening half to trail 32-30 at the break, but made just 2-of-9 after halftime. Trinity, meanwhile, connected on 6-of-10 from long range in the second half after making 0-of-9 in the first 20 minutes.

It was a 45-41 game with 3:57 left in the third quarter when Trinity used a 10-2 run that spanned into the fourth quarter to make it 55-43 with 9:37 left in the game. Austin College was able to get the margin down to 55-50, but Trinity responded with a key three pointer to break the momentum for the 'Roos and stop the comeback bid.

Sarah Gwin led all scorers with 19 points, hitting 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, and Ally Longaker added 17 points and eight rebounds for the 'Roos as the only other Austin College player to reach double-figures in the scoring column. Reagan Chiaverini had six points, eight rebounds, and five assists, and Addison Walling dished out a game-high six assists in the loss. Trinity was led by Maggie Shipley and Jordan Rudd, who each scored 15 points.
