'Roo Win Streak Snapped at No. 15 Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team saw its 11-game winning streak come to an end at No. 15-ranked Trinity despite a career night from Bryce Frank, falling 95-83. The 'Roos are now 13-5 overall and 6-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Frank poured in a career-high 32 points, passing 1,000 for her career in the process, and grabbed 15 rebounds while dishing out six assists but Trinity's Micah Weaver had a career game of her own, tying the Trinity single game scoring record with 42 points. The Tigers got out to a fast start thanks primarily to Weaver's hot shooting, as she went 10-of-11 from the field in the first half with 26 points before the break and Trinity led 51-35 after two quarters.

The Tigers led by as many as 13 points in the opening quarter before Austin College pulled to single digits at 26-17 after one, but the Trinity lead ballooned to as many as 17 in the second quarter before a Kacie West triple got it back down to 10 at 43-33. Trinity got two late threes from Weaver and a layup from Rebecca Gordon to take a 16-point lead into halftime.

Austin College started to chip away at the lead early in the third quarter, and a three from West made it 58-50 with 4:41 to go. The 'Roos would utilize a 12-2 run with Frank scoring to make it 58-55, but Emily Daniel hit a pair of threes to give Trinity some breathing room at 68-59. The Tigers would end the third quarter leading 70-59. The 'Roos would get the margin down to six points twice in the fourth quarter but that's as close as things would get, as Trinity knocked down eight free throws in the final minute and change to seal the win.

Frank made 13-of-25 shots and 6-of-6 free throws to notch her new career best in scoring. She'd previously set a career-high with 30 points in a road win at Washington University earlier this seson. West came off the bench to score 16 points and Ann Savage added 10 points and six assists with three steals.

Weaver finished the night connecting on 15-of-20 shot attempts, adding 10 rebounds and six assists. Daniel scored 18 as the only other Trinity player to reach double figures.

Austin College hosts Schreiner University on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. before taking on Trinity again on Sunday, January 28 with tip time set for 2:00 p.m. in Hughey Gym.
