Women's Hoops Rolls to Eighth Straight Victory

SHERMAN, Texas – Bryce Frank scored 26 points in just 19 minutes of action and Austin College led by as many as 54 points as the 'Roos blew out Texas Lutheran 93-42 on Sunday for their eighth straight win. The 'Roos are now 10-4 overall and 3-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the victory.

Frank scored the first six points of the game as Austin College raced out to a 10-0 lead, and the lead would grow to 24-5 on a free throw by Addison Walling with 2:15 left in the opening quarter. Austin College hounded Texas Lutheran into nine first quarter turnovers on their way to a 27-7 lead after one.

As the second quarter opened, Frank once again scored the first six points as Austin College opened up a 37-7 lead with 7:04 left before halftime. Four quick points from Caitlyn Collins pushed the lead to 45-11 five minutes later, and the 'Roos would head into the break leading 47-17.

A triple from Ann Savage and a three-point-play by Frank, followed by a basket from Meghan Lewis and two free throws from Frank gave Austin College a 58-17 lead less than three minutes into the third quarter. Lewis buried a three and Ally Longaker scored inside to push it to a 66-19 game midway through the period, and Reagan Chiaverini would beat the buzzer to send the 'Roos into the fourth with a 77-31 cushion.

Austin College took its biggest lead of the game early in the fourth on a basket by Longaker to make it 85-31 with 7:59 left to play, and the 'Roos would empty the bench the rest of the way, with 17 players all logging minutes in the game. The 'Roos finished the game shooting 44.2% from the field and came away with 20 steals, while also handing out 23 assists as a team.

Frank hit 10-of-15 shots to get her 26 points and added 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Collins came off the bench to score 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, and Longaker chipped in 11.

The 'Roos got scoring contributions from 13 different players, with Addison Walling dishing out seven assists while Savage added six assists and four steals. Lewis finished with nine points and five steals. The 93 points for Austin College are the most by the women's basketball program since the 'Roos scored 94 in February of 2005.

Cami Davis led Texas Lutheran with 11 points and added three assists, and Dominique Campos added nine points for the Bulldogs, who turned it over 28 times in the game and shot just 27.3% from the field.
