Hendrix Tops 'Roo Women's Hoops

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix College shot 54% from the field and out-scored Austin College 16-4 in second chance points on their way to handing the 'Roos a 78-70 loss on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 2-4 overall this season.

Hendrix got off to a red-hot start, hitting 6-of-7 shots in the first quarter, including knocking down 2-of-2 threes to take a 19-16 edge after one. The Warriors continued their strong offensive output in the second quarter, hitting 8-of-14 shots and knocking down two more threes to head into halftime leading 40-30. Austin College cut into the lead in the third quarter with Bryce Frank and Kacie West combining for 12 points and making it 59-53 heading into the fourth, but Hendrix knocked down three triples to open the final quarter and take a 68-55 lead.

After Hendrix took a 73-59 lead, Austin College used an 11-2 run to trim the deficit to 75-70 with 29 seconds left following a trey from West but that's as close as things would get. Reagan Chiaverini scored 19 points to pace the 'Roos, hitting 7-of-10 shots overall and 4-of-7 threes to notch a career-best. Frank added 13 points, four assists, and three rebounds, and her first rebound gave her 500 for her career. That makes her just the sixth Austin College women's basketball player since 1995 to reach that milestone. West chipped in with 12 points in the loss.

Hendrix put five players in double figures, hitting 8-of-17 three pointers as a team and using a 30-22 rebounding margin to defeat Austin College.
