Late Rally Lifts 'Roos Past Hendrix

The Austin College women's basketball team stormed back from a 13 point deficit with only three minutes left to pull out a 66-65 win over Hendrix College on Saturday afternoon at the SAA/SCAC Challenge in Shreveport. The 'Roos are now 2-0 this season with the victory.

After being outscored by nine in the second quarter to find themselves facing a 40-29 deficit at halftime, the 'Roos cut it to a three point game at 51-48 on a Brianna Harvey jumper with 8:39 left in the game. However, Hendrix would use an 11-2 run to open things up, and the lead would grow to 65-52 with 3:05 left in the game.

The 'Roos would go on a 14-0 run to end the game and claim the victory, with Harvey knocking down a pair of three pointers to highlight the run, and two free throws from Kendall Heitmeier with six seconds left gave Austin College the one point victory.

Harvey scored 14 second half points, finishing with 18 in the game, to lead the 'Roos to the win. The senior forward added seven rebounds, while Heitmeier finished with 15 points and six assists. Bryce Frank came off the bench to score 14 points and bring down four rebounds, and Chrissy Ray hit 5-of-6 shots from the floor to finish with 10 points.
