'Roo Women's Hoops Fall in SCAC Quarterfinals

The Austin College women's basketball team saw its season come to a close as they were eliminated from the SCAC Tournament by Schreiner, falling 75-63 on Friday. The 'Roos finish the season with a record of 14-11.

Austin College took a 21-17 lead thanks in large part to nine early points from Kendall Heitmeier, but Schreiner battled back to take a 29-28 lead with 2:25 left in the half. It looked like that's how things would end but Christina Kime beat the buzzer to send the 'Roos into the locker room on top 30-29.

However, in teh second half the Mountaineers got to the free throw line 24 times, sinking 22, and that proved to be the difference as they took control down the stretch, leading by as much as 15 with 8:24 remaining. The 'Roos cut the margin to five with 3:13 left but couldn't close the gap any more.

Kime finished with 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting to lead the 'Roos, and Heitmeier came off the bench to score 15. Erin Riley scored 13 and added seven rebounds in the loss, in which the Mountaineers used a 44-28 advantage on the glass to top the 'Roos.
