Women's Hoops Improves to 2-0 in SCAC with Win Over Dallas

The Austin College women's basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 68-56 victory at the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 7-5 overall this year with the win.

Christina Kime poured in 26 points and added five assists to lead the way for Austin College, as the 'Roos led for the final 24 minutes of action after taking a 20-19 lead with four minutes left in the first half. The 'Roos got a pair of free throws from Kime with four seconds left to make it a 28-22 game at halftime.

In the second half, the lead quickly reached double digits when Brittany Stepanski scored to make it 39-29, and two more free throws from Kime pushed it to a 50-34 game with 11:08 left. Dallas cut it to a five point game with 1:43 left, but Kime hit a three pointer and hit two more free throws, and Brooke Melton added a pair of free throws to ice the game.

Kime hit 7-of-12 shots overall and 4-of-6 from long range, and added five rebounds in the win. Stepanski finished with 16 points and eight rebounds while swatting a pair of shots, and Melton had 12 points, eight boards, and three assists in the win.

The 'Roos had a 19-3 edge in made free throws, and also dominated on the glass with a 50-34 advantage.
