'Roo Women's Hoops Falls in Overtime of Key Largo Classic Championship

The Austin College women's basketball team trailed by as much as 24 but battled back to force overtime against Keene State, before falling 74-68 in the championship game of the Key Largo Classic. The 'Roos are now 5-5 overall this season.

After falling behind 34-10 late in the second half, and ultimately went into the break trailing 39-16. However, the 'Roos came all the way back after halftime, outscoring Keene State 43-20, thanks largely to hitting 18-of-22 free throws and five triples.

The 'Roos actually took a late lead when Erin Riley drilled a three to put Austin College up by two with a minute left. Keene State came back and drew a foul with time nearly expired, and knocked down two free throws to send it into overtime with the score knotted at 56 apiece.

Keene State hit 4-of-7 field goals, including 3-of-4 three pointers, and added 7-of-10 free throws as they erupted for 18 points in overtime and the 'Roos were unable to keep pace.

Riley finished with 18 points and six boards on her way to being named to the Key Largo Classic All-Tournament Team, and Christina Kime had 11 points and three assists. Brittany Stepanski scored 10 points before fouling out at the end of regulation, and Jenna Longo scored nine points in the loss.
