'Roo Swimming Performs Well at Austin College Invite

The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams had strong showings at the AC Invite on Saturday, with the women finishing second while the men placed fourth.

The 'Roo women scored 308 points to finish second behind Wayland Baptist, with Margaux McCartney picking up a first place finish in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with scores of 163.10 and 152.75, respectively. Lauren Wheeler had several strong swims, finishing second in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.42 and third in the 100 yard backstroke, coming in with a time of 1:06.33.

Sarah Mann added a second place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 12:41.47, and Caitlyn Brugger was first in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:40.64. 

On the men's side, Collin Vu led the 'Roos to 327.5 points to finish fourth, with a first place finish in the 500 freestyle, coming in with a time of 5:13.63. That time was nearly seven seconds better than the second place finisher in the event. Vu added a second place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.86, and Josh Chanin was third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:10.12.

Parker Adams won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, scoring 128.95 and 113.40, respectively. Braedon Mitchell also added a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.98, while Erik Gentzel came through with a big win in the 200 yard backstroke, finishing with the top time of 2:11.31.
