Austin College got on the board in the top of the second, as Jadyn Myers singled to bring home Hannah King to make it a 1-0 game. That remained the score until the fourth, when three more runs came home for the 'Roos to make it 4-0. Tori Fowler got the scoring started in the inning with a sacrifice fly that plated Hailie Swiatkowski, and Emily Autrey came across on a ground ball by Ashlynn Brothers. Reagan Brinkley capped the inning with an RBI double to bring Myers home.
The 'Roos maintained their lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, but that's when McMurry's bats came alive, with the War Hawks scoring all six of their runs in that inning. Maya Mongelli brought home the tying and go-ahead runs with a double, and would later come around to score herself to give McMurry a two-run lead and Austin College was unable to bounce back in the seventh. Alexus Johnson took the loss for the 'Roos, giving up six runs, five earned, on 15 hits in a complete game performance. Myers was 3-for-3 to lead the 'Roos at the plate, while Brinkley and Swiatkowski each had a pair of hits in the loss.
The 'Roos and War Hawks will wrap up the series with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
