'Roos Drop Two to No. 1- ranked ETBU
MARSHALL, Texas - The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of its road twinbill at No. 1-ranked East Texas Baptist on Saturday, falling 10-0 in game one and 11-0 in game two. Austin College is now 0-13 overall on the year with the two defeats.

MARSHALL, Texas - The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of its road twinbill at No. 1-ranked East Texas Baptist on Saturday, falling 10-0 in game one and 11-0 in game two. Austin College is now 0-13 overall on the year with the two defeats.
Game one was tight through the first three innings, as ETBU plated one run in the bottom of the first but that was the lone tally until the bottom of the fourth, when the Tigers pushed two more runs across to make it a 3-0 game. East Texas Baptist put the game away with a seven run fifth, making it 10-0 and ending the game via the mercy rule on a grand slam by Mallory Pyle.
Lauren Trott took the loss for Austin College, giving up eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits in 4.0 innings of work, while Hannah Benavides threw a perfect game with six strikeouts for ETBU. Tristen Maddox led ETBU at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple.
Game two saw East Texas Baptist take control early, as the Tigers plated four runs in the first and three in both the second and third innings to make it 10-0, with one more run coming across in the fourth, and Austin College was unable to get the bats going as they were limited to one hit in the game, with Reagan Brinkley going 1-for-2.
Alexus Johnson absorbed the loss, surrendering nine runs on 10 hits in 2.0 innings of work, while McKenzie Jones got the win for ETBU, pitching 5.0 innings and giving up one hit while striking out seven batters. Madalyn Melton was 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, and four RBI to lead the Tigers.
