'Roos Drop Two to Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College softball team lost both halves of its doubleheader against Trinity University, falling by scores of 9-1 and 3-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action in San Antonio on Saturday evening.

The 'Roos struck first in game one, with Carrie Johnson singling home Tori Fowler to make it 1-0 in the top of the first. Trinity answered in the bottom half of the inning, however, pushing three runs across the plate to make it a 3-1 game. Two more runs came home in the second for the Tigers, and they would add three more in the bottom of the fourth to make it an 8-1 game. Trinity's Hayden Del Toro ended the game via the run-rule in the bottom of the fifth, doubling to plate the final run to make it 9-1.

Hailie Swiatkowski absorbed the loss for Austin College, giving up eight runs on 11 hits in 4.0 innings of work, while Jordan Arce got the victory for Trinity, giving up one run on two hits. Fowler and Johnson had the lone base hits in the game for the 'Roos.

Trinity went on top 1-0 after the first inning of game two, but the 'Roos evened the score in the top of the second with a Trinity error opening the door for Swiatkowski to bunt home Hannah King. The scored remained knotted at 1-1 until the bottom of the fifth, when Hannah Boudreaux knocked in what would prove to be the winning run, and the Tigers added one more run in the sixth to make it 3-1.

Alexus Johnson took the loss for Austin College, giving up three runs on eight hits in a complete game performance. Josephine Koelewyn got the win for Trinity, giving up one run on four hits while going the distance for the Tigers. Carrie Johnson, King, Lyndsey Busch, and Alissandra Tobar each had a base hit for the 'Roos, with Tobar adding a stolen base.
