HOUSTON, Texas - The Austin College softball team dropped its three SCAC games at the University of St. Thomas this weekend, falling 9-0 in game one, 11-3 in game two, and 8-0 in the final game of the series.

The 'Roos were limited two just two hits in the series opener on Friday, as the Celts jumped on top 2-0 after the first inning and 5-0 after two. Four more runs came home for UST in the fourth to make it a 9-0 game, and that's how things would end after five innings. Carrie Johnson and Kaitlyn Barrett each had a hit for the 'Roos, while Hailie Swiatkowski took the loss after surrendering nine runs - eight earned - on 10 hits in 4.0 innings of work. UST's Bailey Tisdale collected the win.

Game two saw Austin College jump on top 1-0 in the opening frame when Elizabeth Preston came home on an error, but the Celts responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. Chyrsi Hemby and Swiatkowski each brought in runs in the third to trim it to a 4-3 game, but the Celts answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and they'd push three more runs across in the fourth to make it a 9-3 game. The Celts would add two more runs in the sixth to end things at 11-3.

Preston went 2-for-4 with two runs scored to pace the 'Roos at the plate, while AD Smith took the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in 3.0 innings of work. Allison Hughes picked up the win for UST, and Mallarie Munson went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI for the Celts.

St. Thomas went ahead 2-0 in the opening inning of game three, and the margin would grow to 5-0 in the bottom of the third. That remained the score until the bottom of the sixth, when the Celts plated three runs to make it 8-0 and end the game. Austin College managed six hits compared to eight for the Celts, but the 'Roos were unable to turn those baserunners into runs. Allie Jeter took the loss, giving up eight runs - seven earned - on eight hits in 5.0 innings. Tisdale got her second win of the weekend for UST, while Lyndsey Busch and Joli Kirkpatrick each had a pair of hits for Austin College.
