SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College softball team dropped a 7-2 decision at No. 1-ranked Texas Lutheran on Friday, bringing the 'Roos to 8-13 overall and 3-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos got through the first inning with Hailie Swiatkowski putting the Bulldogs down in order, and the first-year pitcher had TLU with two outs in the second before the Bulldogs managed to load the bases and draw three straight walks to put three runs on the board. TLU added another run in the third to make it a 4-0 game, and the margin grew to 6-0 in the fourth.

Austin College got on the board in the top of the sixth when Chyrsi Hemby blasted a two-run homer to cut it to a 6-2 game, but Texas Lutheran would add one more run in the bottom half of the inning and the 'Roos couldn't mount a final inning comeback. Swiatkowski took the loss in the circle, giving up six runs on six hits with seven walks in 4.0 innings of work while also striking out two batters. Hemby was one of four 'Roos to collect a hit in defeat.
