
'Roos Swept in Season Opening Doubleheader
RICHARDSON, Texas - The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of its season-opening doubleheader at the University of Texas-Dallas on Tuesday, falling 11-2 in game one and 10-2 in game two.

RICHARDSON, Texas - The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of its season-opening doubleheader at the University of Texas-Dallas on Tuesday, falling 11-2 in game one and 10-2 in game two.
The Comets got on the board in the bottom of the first with a grand slam to make it 4-0, and after Calleigh King singled home a run to cut it to 4-1 in the top of the second, UTD plated four more runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 8-1 with two innings in the books. Lizzy Preston came home on an errant throw in the third to make it 8-2, but the Comets tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third to make it 11-2 and that's how things would end after five innings.
Six different 'Roos collected a hit apiece in the defeat, while Hailie Swiatkowski took the loss in the circle after surrendering 11 runs on 10 hits in 3.0 innings of action. Megan Todd went 2-for-2 with two homers and six RBI to pace UT-Dallas.
In game two, the Comets once again plated four first inning runs and added four more in the second to make it 8-0 heading into the third. Austin College got on the board in the third when Swiatkowski singled home Preston, and Avery Atencio knocked in a run in the fourth to make it an 8-2 game. However, UTD got one more run in the fifth and another in the sixth to make it a 10-2 final.
Swiatkowski went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead Austin College at the dish, while Aubri Dayle Smith took the loss after giving up eight runs - seven earned - on six hits in 1.2 innings of work.
