'Roo Softball Drops Pair at Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College softball team kicked off the conference portion of its schedule with a pair of games against Centenary on Saturday, with the 'Roos falling 7-1 in game one and 3-0 in game two. The 'Roos are now 0-4 on the year.

Game one was scoreless through three innings, when Jaide Vidal came home on a passed ball to put the 'Roos ahead 1-0. Centenary would counter in the bottom half of the inning, and the Ladies plated three runs in each of the next two innings to push it to a 7-1 margin. Austin College was unable to get enough offense going to mount a comeback, and that's how things would end.

Vidal paced the 'Roos at the plate, going 2-for-3 in the game. Nikole High took the loss in relief, surrendering six runs - four earned - on four hits in 2.0 innings of work. High was also 1-for-3 at the dish.

Centenary scored three runs in the bottom of the first in game two and that's all the offense they'd need, as neither team managed to get any runs home the rest of the game. Hannah Richendollar took the loss for Austin College after giving up three runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits in 5.0 innings of work. Richendollar also led the 'Roos at the plate, going 2-for-3 in the game.

The 'Roos and Ladies will finish up their three game series on Sunday, with game time set for noon.
