Austin College Drops Two to Dallas
SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College softball team fell in both halves of its twinbill with the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon, falling 8-0 in game one and 9-0 in game two at Old Settlers Park.

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College softball team fell in both halves of its twinbill with the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon, falling 8-0 in game one and 9-0 in game two at Old Settlers Park. The 'Roos are now 2-10 overall and 1-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
In game one, Dallas jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning before putting four runs across in the second behind an RBI triple from Mackenzie Tano and a two run homer from Gabbie Underwood. The lead grew to 8-0 in the fourth, and Austin College was unable to get anything going at the plate, with the game ending after five innings due to the 8-run rule.
The 'Roos were limited to three hits in the game, with Beth Massey, Courtney Gonzales, and Jaide Vidal each collecting a single. Alyssa McDowell took the loss, surrendering eight runs (five earned) on eight hits in 3.0 innings of work.
Game two saw the Crusaders jump out to a 2-0 lead following a two-run homer by Liz Cordova, and three more runs came across in the second to make it 5-0 heading into the third. That score would hold until the final inning, when Dallas plated four more runs to make it a 9-0 final.
Ashley Elliott absorbed the loss, giving up five runs on four hits in 2.0 innings of work. Elliott, Massey, and Liz Parks were each 1-for-3 while Lauren Mara was 1-for-4 at the plate. Maggie Watts earned the wins in both halves of the doubleheader for Dallas.
