'Roo Softball Drops Two to Trinity

The Austin College softball team fell in both halves of its doubleheader against Trinity on Saturday, falling 2-0 in game one and 8-1 in game two. The 'Roos are now 13-21 overall and 3-15 in SCAC play with the two defeats.

The 'Roos couldn't get any offense going in game one as they were no-hit by the Tigers. Tori Herrera had a strong performance on the mound, going the distance and surrendering just two runs - only one earned - on seven hits with four strikeouts and zero walks, but Trinity scored one run in the second and one in the third and Austin College was unable to match.

In the second game, Trinity plated four runs in the first and never looked back. The 'Roos scoring once in the third on an RBI single by Lauren Mara to cut it to a 4-1 game, but the Tigers would add one run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to make it an 8-1 final.

Kierra Gaither went 2-for-3 to lead Austin College offensively, while Herrera again took the loss, surrendering eight runs - only three earned - on 12 hits.
