Austin College Softball Falls to Dallas

The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of its doubleheader against the University of Dallas on Saturday, falling 3-1 in extra innings in game one and 10-2 in game two. The 'Roos fall to 13-17 overall and 3-11 in SCAC play with the two defeats.

In the first game, Dallas jumped ahead 1-0 in the second inning before the 'Roos squared things in the fifth on an RBI single by Jaylin Clevenger, and the score would remain 1-1 after seven complete innings. Dallas brought two runs across in the top of the eighth to go ahead 3-1, and the 'Roos were unable to counter.

Tori Herrera took the loss for Austin College, surrendering three runs - two earned - on four hits with seven strikeouts and four walks. Kylee Fowler and Chelsea Easley each had two hits in the loss.

In game two, Dallas plated a pair of runs in the second to take an early lead, and Austin College got one run back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI double by Felicia Rivera. The 'Roos tied things at 2-2 in the third on a Kylee Fowler RBI double, but Dallas would regain the lead with a run in the fourth and add two more in the fifth to make it 5-2.

The Crusaders plated two more in the sixth, and added three runs in the seventh to make it a 10-2 final. Wright took the loss for Austin College, surrendering 10 runs - five earned - on 12 hits with four strikeouts. Wright also went 3-for-4 at the plate, and Rivera went 3-for-3.

The 'Roos and Crusaders will finish the four game series with a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 12:00 p.m.
