
Men's Water Polo Caps Season with Dominant Win
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Austin College men's water polo team wrapped up its 2024 campaign with a convincing 11-3 victory over Washinton & Jefferson in the third place game for the MPSF East, in a game played on the campus of UCLA. The 'Roos finish the year with an overall mark of 12-9.

Jack Stack got the 'Roos on the board just under two minutes into the game, and after W&J squared things up, Carlos Camarena tallied with 3:36 on the clock to make it a 2-1 lead after the opening quarter. Preston Fiala got the scoring started in the second quarter, and after W&J notched a goal to make it 3-2, Adrian Halberg and Stack added scores to send Austin College into halftime leading 5-2.
Gabe Daniels made it 6-2 early in the third and Stack found the back of the cage for the third time to make it 7-2 after three periods, and Nic Ruggiero made it five unanswered goals with a tally early in the fourth to put the score at 8-2. Washington & Jefferson stopped Austin College's scoring streak with a goal at the 5:48 mark, but the 'Roos scored the final three of the game to make it 11-3 at the final buzzer. Daniels added his second goal and Anthony Sury and Sebastian Scheier each tallied for the 'Roos in the closing minutes of action.
Caleb Maddox made 13 blocks in goal, and the 'Roos limited W&J to three goals on 32 shots, a 9% mark in the game. Austin College, meanwhile, shot 33%, putting 11 goals away on 33 attempts.
