PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Austin College men's water polo team picked up its first win of the season at the CWPA Division III Eastern Championships on Sunday, topping host school Washington & Jefferson 16-7. The 'Roos are now 1-17 overall on the year with the victory.

Max Wade led the way for the 'Roos with three goals en route to being named the Rookie of the Tournament, notching 18 goals over the course of four games this weekend. Brett Skinner also tallied three goals, as Austin College jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and grew the margin to 4-1 midway through the second quarter. Washington & Jefferson battled back to trim it to a 5-3 game at halftime, and the score was 9-6 heading into the fourth quarter before Austin College seized complete control. Wade and Skinner each tallied twice in the fourth, with Andrew Pope, Kyle Brown, and Michael Colmenares also finding the net as the 'Roos had a decisive 7-1 scoring advantage in the frame to close things out.

Pope and Cade Griffith each had two goals in the victory, and Zachary Griffith had a strong overall performance in net to help the 'Roos pick up the win. Austin College returns to Sherman on November 9, hosting Ottawa (Ariz.) and Penn State-Behrend for a pair of games.
