'Roo Water Polo Falls to Penn State-Behrend

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Austin College men's water polo team fell 13-10 to Penn State-Behrend in the 5th place game at the 2018 MPSF Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos finish their inaugural year with a record of 1-15.

Behrend took an early 2-0 lead before Andrew Pope got the 'Roos on the board, and Sam Skinner squared things up. However, PSB tallied once more before the end of the quarter to take a 3-2 lead into the second. The Lions took control in the second quarter, out-scoring the 'Roos 5-1 to take an 8-3 lead into halftime, and the lead grew to 12-5 after three despite goals from Alex Rodriguez and Brett Skinner.

Austin College began to chip away at the margin in the fourth, with Robert Griffin scoring first and Rodriguez tallying again to cut it to 12-7. PSB scored to make it 13-7 with just over a minute and a half left, but Brett Skinner found the net once and Will Koelzer scored twice to cut it to a 13-10 game with 38 seconds remaining. However, that's as close as things would get.

Brett Skinner, Pope, Koelzer, and Rodriguez each scored twice for Austin College and Andrew Pomier made 15 saves in the loss.
