'Roo Tennis Drops Home Match to Trinity

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams each dropped 9-0 decisions to visiting Trinity University on Saturday afternoon at the Jordan Family Courts at the Russell Tennis Center.

Luke Henley and Tate Nelson fell 8-0 in number one doubles and Will Dixon and AJ Wueste dropped an 8-1 decision playing at flight two, and the 'Roos defaulted line three doubles to give the Tigers a sweep in that trio of matches. Henley fell 1-6, 0-6 at line one singles, and Nelson dropped a 2-6, 0-6 match at number two.

Dixon fell 0-6, 1-6 playing line three, while Wueste was bested 0-6, 0-6 at line four and Yudai Abe dropped a 0-6, 2-6 decision at line five. Trinity won by default on line six, giving the Tigers the 9-0 overall win in the match.

On the women's side, Gigi Francis and Kylie Imperial fell 8-2 on line one in doubles competition, and Bailey Standokes and Tara Tran fell 8-0 playing line two. Trinity won line three doubles by default. In singles competition, Francis battled but fell 6-2, 0-6, 0-1 (6-10) playing on line one, and Imperial dropped a 3-6, 1-6 decision on line two. Standokes was defeated 0-6, 0-6 at line three, and Tran also fell by scores of 0-6, 0-6 on line four. Elena Aventa dropped a 0-6, 0-6 line five decision, and the 'Roos lost by default on line six.

Austin College is back in action on Sunday when they host non-conference opponent East Texas Baptist at 3:00 p.m. in another home match.
