'Roo Tennis Falls to Texas-Dallas

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's tennis team dropped a tight 5-4 match to the University of Texas-Dallas and the women fell 7-2 to the Comets on Saturday afternoon at the Jordan Family Tennis Courts. The 'Roo men are now 1-4 overall and the women are 4-2.

On the men's side, the 'Roos took a 2-1 lead after doubles action, with the team of Calum Robe and Andres Padilla winning 8-4 at line one while Siddharth Kortikere and PJ Cabato picked up an 8-4 victory playing on the number three line. Brett O'Brien and Preston Spivey took a loss for the 'Roos at line two, falling 3-8 to the Comets. O'Brien dropped a 2-6, 3-6 decision at line one singles, but Padilla was able to pull out a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory playing number two singles for Austin College.

Robe fell 3-6, 2-6 at line three, while Spivey dropped his flight four singles match 1-6, 2-6. Kortikere lost at line five singles by scores of 1-6, 4-6, and Cabato pulled out an epic victory at line six, winning 6-7, 6-2, 13-11.

The 'Roo women were swept in doubles play to open things up, with Diana Carvajalino and Melody Duong dropping a 6-8 decision at line one, while Katie Seibert and Georgia Moore fell 3-8 at line two. Anna Sergiovanni and Gigi Francis lost on line three, falling by a score of 5-8 in the match. In singles play, Carvajalino fell 5-7, 1-6 at line one, and Duong dropped a 2-6, 4-6 decision at line two. Sergiovanni took a 7-6, 2-6, 8-10 defeat at flight three, and Seibert fell 4-6, 5-7 at line five. 

Moore picked up a singles victory playing number four for the 'Roos, winning 3-6, 6-3, 10-8, and Francis also earned a win at number six singles, coming out ahead 6-4, 6-4.
