Colby Defeats Austin College 7-2 in SCAC/NESCAC Showdown
Huge win at Line 2 doubles and Robe's
AUSTIN, Tex. - A tremendous effort was put forth by Austin College against the Colby College Mules at Austin Tennis Academy.
AC jumped on Colby's doubles teams early at Line 2 and Line 3 with Erik Meendsen/Josh Granberry closing out a huge 8-3 victory for the 'Roos. Siddharth Kortikere and Andres Padilla fell behind early 1-6 but began closing out points to tie the match at 7-7 with a 6-games-to-1 run. The Mules would win 9=7 at Line 1 and take a 2-1 lead going into singles.
Lines 5 and 6 fell quick for the 'Roos with the Mules taking Line 1 to clinch the match. But Austin College would prevent the singles sweep with Calum Robe's epic line 4 win. Robe would drop the first set 6-7, but would take a 7-5, 1-0 (10-4) victory in set 2 and the super-tiebreaker for the 3rd.
The final score would read 7-2 Colby, but AC played a great match against a tough opponent. Austin College returns to the courts on 4/6 at 5:30PM as they host West #19 Schreiner University.
