Men’s Tennis Blanks Howard Payne 9-0
Road opener proves successful for West #17 Kangaroos
BROWNWOOD, Tex. - The Kangaroo Men's Tennis Team posted a shutout over the Howard Payne University Yellowjackets for their first dual match win of the season.
Travis Fortune and Andres Padilla logged the first doubles point for Austin College 8-1 at Line 2, while Preston Spivey and Bryan Walmsley were close behind with match #2 at Line 3, 8-2. Calum Robe and Erik Meendsen stayed in control of a tightly contested match at Line 1, completing the sweep 8-6.
The 'Roos dropped a total of 5 games in singles competition, with Preston Spivey recording the only unblemished result at Line 5 6-0, 6-0. Spivey's victory was the fourth point of the evening for AC, and Andres Padilla's 6-1, 6-0 result at Line 3 clinched the victory for the team.
Austin College heads to Abilene for a showdown against Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday, February 10th at 10:00AM.
