Men Sweep Final Weekend of Home Matches, 7-2 over LeTourneau

SHERMAN, Tex. - With two victories under their belt this weekend, the Men's Tennis Team of Austin College moved to 9-3 on the year with a victory over the YellowJackets of LeTourneau University.

This ninth win eclipses last season's high-water mark of 8 with the entire month of April ahead of the Kangaroos.

Austin College swept the doubles, starting all three of their Seniors on Senior Day.  Jeff Kubena and Jacob Morgan struck first with an easy Line 3 Doubles win as Preston Glasscock and Erik Meendsen got out to an early 6-1 lead.

But as Kenneth Hardy and Siddharth Kortikere closed out their 9th victory at Line 1 Doubles this season, Glasscock and Granberry found themselves down 6-7 serving to stay in the match.  Both teams would hold until the tiebreaker, where the 'Roo duo would complete the doubles sweep heading in to singles competition.

Hardy would put the Men up 4-0, and Glasscock would clinch the victory for the 'Roos in straight sets.

Meendsen provided spectators with something rarely ever seen, playing 1 game that lasted 45-minutes en route to a defeat at Line 3, and Jacob Morgan would fall in straights at Line 6.

Jeff Kubena emerged victorious in a closely contested 6-4, 6-2 victory, and Josh Granberry had the most exciting match of the day, winning 12-10 in a Line 1 Super Tiebreaker.

Austin College returns to the courts in Georgetown, TX on April 7th at 6:00pm against the Southwestern University Pirates.
