Patriots Cruise Over AC Men's Tennis 9-0
Kubena plays tough at Line 6 Singles; Falls in Super-Tiebreaker to prevent Pats sweep
TYLER, Tex. - After falling behind by 2.5 hours due to weather conditions, the Austin College Men's and Women's Tennis Team finally played their third new opponent of this young season; the University of Texas at Tyler Patriots.
The Pats would roll to a decisive victory, but according to Coach Ryan Dodd, this might have been one of their most important results of the year. "One of worst things that can happen to a team is complacency," said Coach Dodd. "It does our team a lot of good to play against an NCAA, Conference Champion team as well respected as UT-Tyler."
UTT would sweep the doubles and take straight-set victories over the Kangaroos on Lines 1-5. But after a 6-0 first set, Jeff Kubena would take the second 7-6 (7-5). In the third and final set (a ten-point super-tiebreaker), Kubena would fall 10-5.
Austin College is back on the courts this afternoon in Longview, TX on the campus of LeTourneau University. First serve was planned for 3:00pm. All weather updates can be found on the Team's Twitter and Instagram Pages - @ACRoosMWTennis
