'Roos Perform Well on Senior Day

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College swim teams took to the pool for the Austin College Invitational on Saturday while also celebrating Senior Day, where they recognized men's seniors Cristan Gutierrez and Sean Cookson as well as women's seniors Lauren Olivier, Liberty Chanin, and Becca Tobias.

The women's team started the meet strong with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Sammi Thiele, Cassidee Levine, Tobias, and Olivier came in with a time of 2:00.06. Tim Smith gave the 'Roo men a fourth place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 19:55.05, and Thiele delivered the first top finish of the day for the Austin College women in the 100 backstroke. Thiele came in with a time of 59.74 in the event, and would add another first place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:34.59. She would later make it three wins by touching with a time of 2:19.12 in the 200 individual medley, once again good for first place.

JonAustin Blaine finished second in the 200 backstroke for the 'Roo men, coming in with a time of 2:14.35, and Jonas Eaton was third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.83. Gutierrez gave the 'Roos a fourth place finish in the men's 200 breaststroke, coming in with a time of 3:03.58, and Cookson placed fifth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:31.49. Tobias added a fourth place finish for the 'Roo women, coming in with a time of 1:08.16 in the 100 butterfly.
