Records Fall for 'Roos on Day Two at SCAC Meet

GARLAND, Texas - Multiple program records fell for both the men's and women's Austin College swim teams on day two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Thursday. The 'Roo women currently sit in fourth place at the event with 146 points, while the men are in sixth with 97 points.

Sammi Thiele, Liberty Chanin, and Max Saenz all set new program marks on Thursday, with Saenz setting a new record in the men's 50 free in prelims on Thursday morning. Saenz set the new mark with a time of 21.25, before swimming a time of 21.28 in Thursday night's finals to place eighth in the event.

Chanin set a new program record in the 500 freestyle, coming in with a time of 5:12.80 in the morning prelims to establish the new mark. During the evening's finals, Chanin took fourth place with a time of 5:13.66, while Thiele broke the 200 Individual Medley mark twice in the day on her way to taking the silver medal in Thursday evening's finals. Thiele initially broke the program mark in prelims with a time of 2:10.11, a record which stood for only a few hours before she touched with a time of 2:09.46 on her way to a second place finish.

Both the 'Roo men's and women's teams took part in the 200 free relay event as well, with the men's team of Saenz, Charles Stafford, Sean Cookson, and Alex Lai coming in with a time of 1:27.37 to take fourth while the women's team of Thiele, Chloe Hunt, Chanin, and Eleanna Martinez took fifth with a time of 1:41.91.
