'Roo Swimming Splits with Ozarks

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's swim team topped the University of the Ozarks 136-125 on Saturday, while the men were edged 133-112 by the Eagles in Hannah Natatorium.

Both teams got off to strong starts in the 400 medley relay, taking first in both the women's and men's events. The team of Chloe Hunt, Samantha Thiele, Zuni Rubio, and Becca Tobias finished with a time of 4:29.35, while the men's team of Max Saenz, Alex Lai, Sean Cookson, and Charles Stafford came in with a time of 3:53.47.

Liberty Chanin picked up a win in the 1000 freestyle, touching with a time of 11:20.49, and Ben Rafalski took first in that same event for the men with a time of 11:58.08. Saenz added a first place finish in the 50 backstroke, touching with a time of 26.55, and Thiele picked up a win in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.14 for the women.

Stafford added a first place finish for the men in the 50 freestyle, touching with a time of 23.10, and he also took first in the 100 free with a time of 51.23. Saenz chipped in a first place finish in the 100 backstroke, coming in with a time of 57.61, while on the women's side Thiele gave the 'Roos a first place time of 1:10.58 in the 100 breaststroke. 

Chanin got another first place finish in the 500 freestyle, touching with a time of 5:34.20, and Hunt was first in the 50 butterfly for the 'Roos, coming in with a time of 29.28. Saenz brought home first in that event for the men, coming in with a time of 24.48, while Thiele was a first place finisher for the women with a time of 2:16.96 in the 200 individual medley.

Both teams wrapped up the day with relay wins, as the team of Chanin, Lauren Olivier, Eleanna Martinez, and Hunt took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:00.87, while Stafford, Christan Gutierrez, Daniel Hunt, and Rafalski won the same event with a time of 3:48.18.
