Men's Swimming Wraps Up Opening Trip to Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up its season opening trip to Colorado, where the 'Roos took on McMurry and host school Colorado College for a pair of meets on Friday and Saturday. The 'Roos fell 138-38 against McMurry and 161-15 to Colorado College.

Joaquin Gonzalez got the scoring started for Austin College against McMurry with a second place finish in the 1000 freestyle, coming in with a time of 12:54.97, and Sean Cookson added a second place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.59. Ethan Miles took third in the 50 free with a time of 24.77, and Ben Rafalski added a third place finish in the 200 IM, coming in with a time of 2:21.99. Cookson picked up another second place finish in the 100 freestyle, touching with a time of 53.10, and Miles was another second place finisher in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.03. 

Rafalski picked up a second place finish in the 500 freestyle, coming in with a time of 6:14.89, and the team of Miles, Rafalski, Gonzalez, and Cookson added a second place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:50.65.

Against Colorado College, Rafalski took third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:06.52, and Cookson placed third in the 50 free with a time of 23.68. Gonzalez added a fourth place finish in the 200 breaststroke, coming in with a time of 2:53.32 to wrap up the weekend trip.

The 'Roos are home on Saturday when they host McMurry and Centenary in Hannah Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
