Records Fall for 'Roo on Day Two of SCAC Championships

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College men's swimming and diving team moved up to fourth place overall and the women held in fifth after day two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday, with both teams establishing new program records along the way.

The men's team of Ethan Nguyen, David Mowles, Zachary Griffith, and Cade Griffith earned All-Conference honors with their third place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, setting the school record in the process with a time of 1:25.50. Nguyen's opening leg of the race also set a new program record in the 50 free. Mowles also set a program record in the 500 freestyle, coming in with a time of 4:44.27, which was good for fifth place at the meet. Cade Griffith added a fourth place finish in the 50 freestyle, touching in a time of 21.54.

On the women's side, Chloe Hunt broke the school record in the 200 individual medley twice in the day - first in prelims, and then again in Thursday evening's finals. Hunt's seventh place finish came with a time of 2:15.46 to establish the new program mark in the event. The 'Roo men and women are back in the pool on Friday, before wrapping up the championships on Saturday.
