'Roos Start Strong at SCAC Championship Meet

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams got off to a strong start at the 2020 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Wednesday.

The men saw the program record in the 800 free relay fall, with David Mowles, Charles Smith, Cade Griffith, and Ethan Nguyen coming in with a time of 7:02.29 to take fourth at the meet. Mowles also broke the school record in the 200 free on the first leg of the relay, touching in a time of 1:43.49. The men currently sit in seventh place after two events.

On the women's side, the 'Roos got fifth place finishes in both the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay and are in fifth place after day one. The team of Chloe Hunt, Jade Kemp, Becca Tobias, and Sophie Garriga came in with a time of 1:58.33 in the 200 medley relay, and that same foursome finished with a time of 8:22.38 in the 800 free relay.
