Records Fall for 'Roos on Day One of SCAC Championships

The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams got off to a solid start at the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet in Lewisville, with three program records falling for the men.

Only two events took place on Wednesday night, with both the men's and women's sides swimming the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay. On the men's side, the team of Tyler Brown, Chris Brown, Collin Vu, and Nick Cappellini swam a program best 1:37.66, good for fifth place in the event. 

On the women's side, the team of Caitlyn Brugger, Bailey Clark, Sophie Garriga, and Sarah Edzards placed sixth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:06.44. The 'Roos added a sixth place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, with the same team coming in with a time of 8:50.39.

The men set a pair of records in the 800 freestyle relay, with Vu breaking the program's 200 freestyle record during his leg of the event, touching with a time of 1:45.92, and the team of Brown, Brown, Vu, and Cappellini set their second relay record of the night with a time of 7:14.27, once again good for fifth place at the meet.
