
Five 'Roos Earn Men's Soccer All-SCAC
HOUSTON, Texas - Austin College men's soccer players Louis Catchpole, Pierce Wear, Sam Spencer, Marco Guzman, and Matheus Braid have each been named All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers for their outstanding play during the 2024 season, the league office has announced.
HOUSTON, Texas - Austin College men's soccer players Louis Catchpole, Pierce Wear, Sam Spencer, Marco Guzman, and Matheus Braid have each been named All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers for their outstanding play during the 2024 season, the league office has announced.
Catchpole, a senior forward from Kent, England, was a first team All-SCAC selection after finishing second in the conference with 13 goals scored and third in total points with 30. Along with his 13 tallies, he added four assists, and had a pair of game-winning goals on the year.
Wear, a junior midfielder from North Richland Hills, was a second team All-SCAC pick following a year in which he finished sixth in the league with nine goals and fifth in total points, closing the year with 24. Wear's six assists ranked him seventh in the SCAC, and he had two game-winning goals this season.
Spencer, a junior defender from Heath, was an honorable mention All-SCAC pick after finishing the year tied for fourth in the SCAC with seven assists, while also adding four goals. Spencer ended the season ranked 16th in the league with 15 total points.
Guzman, a freshman midfielder from Keller, was both an honorable mention All-SCAC selection as well as a member of the All-Freshman Team after a debut season in which he scored twice and added six assists, finishing the season with 10 total points. Five of Guzman's assists came against conference opponents.
Braid, a freshman midfielder from Frisco, was also an honorable mention All-SCAC pick and selected to the All-Freshman Team after finishing the season with five goals, including a pair of game-winners, to go along with two assists. Braid added two assists on the year, and finished the year ranked third on the team in goals scored.
