Men's Soccer Falls to Concordia
AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team came up short in its comeback bid against Concordia University, dropping a 3-2 match on the campus of St. Edward's University on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 5-10-2 overall and 3-4-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team came up short in its comeback bid against Concordia University, dropping a 3-2 match on the campus of St. Edward's University on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 5-10-2 overall and 3-4-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Concordia struck first, getting an early goal from Gustavo Hernandez in the seventh minute of action to make it 1-0, and that remained the score for the remainder of the half, despite the 'Roos holding a slight edge in shot attempts at 7-to-6. Austin College evened things up just out of halftime, with Marco Guzman tallying on an assist from Pierce Wear at the 46:06 mark.
Concordia took the lead back just over 14 minutes later, with Jesse Grafias finding the back of the net to make it 2-1, and the margin grew to 3-1 in the 80th minute on a goal by Cameron Burleson. Austin College cut the margin to 3-2 in the 83rd minute as Louis Catchpole scored on an assist by Colin Nguyen, but the 'Roos were unable to complete the comeback in the game's closing minutes.
Both teams finished the game with 16 shot attempts, with Jayson Baldwin splitting time in goal for the 'Roos with Ethan Davila, while Leo Reyes made five saves for Concordia. Austin College is back in action on Sunday at McMurry.
