'Roo Men Earn Senior Night Victory
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team celebrated Senior Night with a victory on Friday, topping visiting Schreiner University 3-1 to improve to 5-8-2 overall and 3-2-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team celebrated Senior Night with a victory on Friday, topping visiting Schreiner University 3-1 to improve to 5-8-2 overall and 3-2-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Austin College sprinted out to a big lead early, tallying twice in just over six minutes to open the game. Pierce Wear got the 'Roos on the board in the fourth minute on an assist from Sam Spencer, and just under three minutes later, Louis Catchpole found Matheus Braid for what would prove to be the game-winner, making it a 2-0 game. The Mountaineers got on the board in the 26th minute, as a shot by Schreiner deflected off of an Austin College defender for an own goal, and the teams would head into halftime with the 'Roos on top 2-1.
That remained the score until the 61:10 mark, when Austin College drew a penalty kick and Catchpole found the back of the net for the 10th time this season, marking the second year in a row he's notched double-digits in goals scored. Austin College finished the game with a 24-to-9 shot advantage, including 12-to-3 after halftime to take the win. The 'Roos also owned a 9-to-2 edge in shots on goal.
Austin College wraps up its home slate for 2024 on Sunday, playing host to Trinity University at noon.
