Men's Soccer Drops Home Match Against Ozarks
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team found itself facing a two-goal deficit at halftime and was unable to come all the way back, falling 2-1 to the visiting University of the Ozarks on Sunday afternoon at Jerry E. Apple Stadium. The 'Roos are now 4-8-2 overall and 2-2-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Apple Stadium. The 'Roos are now 4-8-2 overall and 2-2-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Ozarks came out as the aggressor early, firing multiple shots in the game's opening minutes. The Eagles broke through in the 15th minute to get on the board first, as Bailey Sawyer played a ball to just outside the top of the box, and Juan De La Rosa managed to head it over Austin College keeper Jayson Baldwin, who was charging toward De La Rosa in an effort to knock the cross away. Rasto Rimbo doubled the lead for the Ozarks in the 41st minute, taking a feed from Brock Bernard and putting in the back of the net to send the Eagles into halftime leading 2-0.
Austin College cut the margin in half early on in the second frame, as Kyle Nimon played a cross across the box and Pierce Wear managed to head it home to make it 2-1 in the 54th minute of play. The 'Roos had several other strong opportunities, including a header by Wear hitting the crossbar and a follow up header attempt by Louis Catchpole being punched away by Ozarks keeper Ali Jirani, but the home side was unable to find an equalizer.
The 'Roos out-shot Ozarks 17-to-12, including 10-to-3 after halftime. Baldwin finished with one save for Austin College and Jibari made six stops for the Eagles. Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Friday as they celebrate Senior Night against Schreiner University at 6:00 p.m.
