'Roos Open SCAC Play with Convincing Victory

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team returned home for the first time in nearly three weeks as they opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play against the University of Dallas, and the 'Roos took control early and never looked back with a 3-0 win on Saturday evening. The 'Roos are now 3-6-1 overall this season.

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team returned home for the first time in nearly three weeks as they opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play against the University of Dallas, and the 'Roos took control early and never looked back with a 3-0 win on Saturday evening. The 'Roos are now 3-6-1 overall this season.

Austin College came out looking to score early, getting a shot on goal in the first 30 seconds of action and eventually breaking through in the 8th minute when Pierce Wear scored on an assist from Matheus Braid. Austin College kept the pressure on throughout the rest of hte opening half, firing 11 shots including six on target, but the score remained 1-0 at halftime. It didn't take long for Austin College to double that lead, however, as Wear once again scored, this time on a header on a corner kick from Louis Catchpole to make it 2-0 in the 48th minute.

The 'Roos scored again exactly eight minutes later, this time with Marco Guzman playing a through ball to Braid, who managed to put one home to make it 3-0 and that's how things would eventually end. Austin College held a 24-to-11 shot advantage in the game, including 11-to-1 in shots on goal, as Jayson Baldwin and Ethan Davila combined for the clean sheet for the 'Roos. Jaxon Mast made eight stops in goal for Dallas.
