BELTON, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team fell in a 2-0 hole in the opening half and was unable to bounce back, coming up short in a 2-1 decision on Thursday evening at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The 'Roos are now 1-4-1 overall on the year.
The Crusaders scored both of their goals in a three and a half minute span midway through the opening half, with Ethan Dacaret tallying at the 25 minute mark, while Xjavier Martinez found the back of the net at the 28:37 mark. The Cru held a 9-to-1 shot advantage in the opening half, with 'Roo keeper Jayson Baldwin making four stops in the first 45 minutes of play.
Austin College started to battle back in the second half, out-shooting UMHB 4-to-3, and the 'Roos got on the scoreboard in the 79th minute after drawing a penalty kick for Louis Catchpole to make it 2-1. However, that's how things would finish. Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Sunday when they travel to Shreveport for a neutral site game against Mississippu University for Women.
