COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College men's soccer team erupted for four second half goals to run away from Fontbonne University in a neutral site match on the campus of Colorado College on Sunday, winning 5-0 with five different players tallying. The 'Ros are 1-1 on the year.
The game was scoreless through the first 30 minutes of action before Austin College earned a penalty kick, and first-year player Matheus Braid stepped up and delivered the team's first goal of the season, as well as the first of his career, at the 32:42 mark to make it a 1-0 game. That's how things would stay heading into the second half, when a 59th minute goal by Pierce Wear opened the floodgates for Austin College offensively. After Wear's goal, assisted by Alejandro Beracochea, Wear found Louis Catchpole just over a minute and a half later to make it a 3-0 game.
Two minutes later, Beracochea added to his earlier assist by finding the back of the net himself, this time on a feed from Catchpole to make it 4-0 in the 62nd minute of action. Austin College got on the board once more in the match, with Jeremiah Facundo scoring on an assist from Jonah Ferrante in the 78th minute to make it 5-0, and that's how things would stay down the stretch. Jayson Baldwin and Ethan Davila split time in goal to earn the combined clean sheet, as Austin College out-shot Fontbonne 27-to-2 in the match.
