Catchpole, Spencer Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College men's soccer players Louis Catchpole and Sam Spencer have been selected as Academic All-District picks for their outstanding performances both athletically and academically.

The 2023 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Catchpole, a junior forward originally from Kent, England, was a second team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection this season and earned his Academic All-District recognition with a 3.5 grade-point-average as a business major.

Spencer, a sophomore defender from Heath, started all 12 matches in which he competed as the team's defensive anchor. He was named Academic All-District after posting a 3.53 grade-point-average thus far in his time at Austin College, with a major in neuroscience.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Men's Soccer Academic All-America honorees will be announced December 19.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
