Catchpole's Two Goals Lift 'Roos Over Dallas

IRVING, Texas - Louis Catchpole continued his torrid start to the 2023 season with a pair of goals in a 2-1 victory over the University of Dallas on Saturday, giving the junior 10 goals on the year and making him the first 'Roo since 2017 to reach double-figures in that category. The 'Roos are now 6-3 overall and 1-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos went on top 1-0 in the 13th minute after Catchpole buried a penalty kick, but Dallas rallied back six minutes later and squared things up on a goal by Evan Corsiglia. Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the rest of the half, taking a 1-1 score into the break.

In the second half, Catchpole put the 'Roos on top with what would prove to the game winner in the 62nd minute, with assists to Jacob Tekle and Alejandro Beracochea to make it 2-1 and that's how things would end. Austin College out-shot the Crusaders 8-4 after halftime and 14-9 overall in the team's first conference game of the season, with Everardo Garza making one save to earn the victory.

Austin College's has now won six games in September for the first time since the 2016 campaign.
