Pilarski's Goal Boosts 'Roos Past Gents

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College men's soccer team earned its second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season on Sunday, as Ethan Pilarski's second half goal lifted the 'Roos past Centenary by a 3-2 final. The 'Roos are now 3-9-1 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Austin College struck first in the match to take an early lead, with Pierce Wear scoring on an assist from Kyle Nimon in the 9th minute of action. However, Centenary would equalize things on a penalty kick goal by Jaron Petreas in the 29th minute, and another penalty kick a minute later, this time from Ron Masti, put the Gents ahead 2-1.

That lead was short-lived, however, as Austin College won a penalty kick of its own in the 31st minute and Nimon buried it to make it 2-2 heading into halftime. The score remained even until the 61st minute, when Pilarski ripped a shot from 18 yards out on the left wing just inside the right post for what would prove to be the game-winner.

Austin College held a 25-14 shot advantage in the match, and Connor Tullis made four saves to earn the win in goal. Sami Borchalli made five stops for Centenary.
