'Roos Net First Win of 2022 Campaign

LONGVIEW, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team scored twice in under a minute midway through the second half to break open what had been a scoreless tie, in the process delivering first year head coach Taylor Goyen his first career victory with a 2-0 win at LeTourneau.

After a scoreless opening half, the 'Roos got on the board with an unassisted goal by Kyle Nimon at the 65:43 mark to make it 1-0. Just 51 seconds later, Louis Catchpole found Cesar Escobar, who fired a shot into the back of the net for his second tally of the young season to make it 2-0. That's how things would stand, as the 'Roos shut down the Jackets the rest of the way.

Connor Tullis made four saves to earn the clean sheet in goal, as Austin College held a slight shot advantage with 14 attempts to 13 for LeTourneau. The Jackets put four shots on goal while Austin College placed three on target, but the 'Roos made their efforts count with two scores coming from those efforts.

Austin College will be looking to make it two in a row when they host Howard Payne University at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
