MARSHALL, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team took East Texas Baptist to overtime, but the Tigers managed to get the golden goal in the 100th minute of action to hand the 'Roos a 2-1 loss on Monday night in non-conference action. The 'Roos are now 0-3 on the year.

The two teams battled evenly throughout the match, with the 'Roos holding a slight edge with 10 shots to nine for ETBU, but it was the Tigers who struck first when they tallied in the 23rd minute of action to make it a 1-0 game. Austin College equalized 13 minutes later, however when Rodolfo Garcia took advantage of a penalty kick situation by punching one home to knot things up heading into halftime.

Defense was the story of the second half, as neither team was able to find many scoring opportunities after the break. The 'Roos managed just four shots after halftime, while ETBU had only three, and the game remained square at one goal apiece through 90 minutes. The game appeared to be headed toward a second overtime session, but East Texas Baptist's Bruno Palmieri managed to find the back of the net at the 99:27 mark, less than a minute before time expired in the period. That tally gave the Tigers the 2-1 lead and the victory.

Connor Tullis made three saves in goal for Austin College, while ETBU's Cristian Hernandez made two stops for the Tigers.
