Late Goal Lifts 'Roos Past TLU

MELISSA, Texas –Phillip Le scored with less than four minutes remaining to give Austin College a 2-1 victory over Texas Lutheran on Sunday at Melissa ISD Cardinal Stadium, giving the 'Roos a Senior Day win. The 'Roos are now 6-5-2 overall and 5-5-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Austin College dominated possession for most of the game, holding a 21-to-5 edge in shot attempts, and got an early goal to show for it. Le took the ball to the endline and played it into the box, where Xander Spurlock punched it in from five yards out in the 11thminute. The 'Roos had several other strong chances to add to their lead, but were turned away and went into halftime leading 1-0.

The Bulldogs equalized in the 58thminute as Luis Green found the angle from near the endline, popping a shot over the head of 'Roo keeper Joseph Khalaf to make it 1-1. The game appeared to be headed for overtime until Victor Monsivais played a through-ball to Le, who took it all the way to the endline and somehow managed to keep his shot just inside the far post to make it a 2-1 game in the 87thminute of action to give the 'Roos the win.

The 'Roos are back in action on Tuesday when they play host to Centenary in their final home match of the season, with game time currently scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
