Osagiede Scores Twice as 'Roos Top Sul Ross

SHERMAN, Texas – Owen Osagiede tallied twice and Austin College led by as many as four goals as the 'Roos topped Sul Ross State University 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at the Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex. The 'Roos are now 1-0-1 on the year.

Isaiah Wingeier-Rayo got the scoring started for Austin College, following up a deflected shot by Juan Ramirez and punching into the back of the net in the 20th minute of action. The 'Roos tallied again in the 43rd minute, as Xander Spurlock beat the keeper low and left, and less than a minute later Osagiede scored the first of his two goals to make it 3-0 at halftime.

Sul Ross tallied early in the second half with Lorenzo Segura scoring on a rebounded shot, but in the 62nd minute Ramirez back-heeled a shot into the net from right in front of the goal to make it 4-1. Osagiede scored for the second time in the 68th minute to make it a 5-1 game.

Sul Ross quickly scored twice more just after the 75 minute mark and again in the 80th minute, but Ivan Barrios gave the 'Roos a little more cushion with a goal that came just 19 seconds after the second score for the Lobos. Sul Ross would add one more goal in the 85th minute to make it a 6-4 final.

The 'Roos dominated possession and controlled most of the action, out-shooting Sul Ross 23-10, including a 12-2 edge in the first half. The 'Roos also had nine corner kicks to just two for the Lobos.
