Men's Soccer Battles LETU to 2-2 Draw

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College men's soccer team got an equalizing goal from Phillip Le with under four minutes to play in regulation, and the 'Roos would wind up drawing with LeTourneau 2-2 on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 3-1-1 on the year.

Austin College dominated the action early but it was LeTourneau who got on the board first, putting a shot just inside the left hand post to take a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute. The lead didn't last long, however, as Austin College drew a penalty kick three minutes later. Le's penalty attempt was saved, but he was able to quickly collect his own rebound and punch it in for the goal.

LeTourneau would regain the lead just before halftime, with Eduardo Barron scoring in the 44th minute off of a rebound to send the Yellow Jackets into halftime leading 2-1. That would remain the score until the 86:03 mark, when Le tallied for the second time in the game on a header off a cross from Jack Wheaton to square things up and force extra time.

Both sides have good scoring chances in both overtime periods but were unable to come away with the golden goal. Austin College held a 28-17 edge in shots during the game, with Joseph Khalaf and Juan Rodriguez combining for five saves while LeTourneau keeper Miguel Cabrera made 10 stops.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
